Qualifications |
|
Jane Johnston has been teaching group fitness classes on land and in the water since 1977. Jane began teaching Yoga classes in 1995, doing Personal Fitness Training in 1997, Feldenkrais Method® Awareness Through Movement® classes in 2003 and Tai Chi in 2010. Jane holds several national certifications in Land and Water Fitness as well as several Land and Water Post-Rehab Certifications. Jane is certified by AAHFRP as a Post-Rehab Conditioning Specialist and ATRI as an Aquatic Therapeutic Exercise Specialist, by the National Arthritis Association for their Land and Water arthritis classes, and has a particular interest in working with aging clients in a rehab situation. Jane is Registered with the Yoga Alliance at the 200 hour level, is certified by American Yoga College, Yoga and Health Studies Center and Yoga Afloat as a yoga teacher and has been studying yoga since 1977. Jane became a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Method Practitioner® in May 2005. She is one of only three practitioners worldwide to take Feldenkrais to the water. Jane is also a APHERD certified Adapted Aquatics Instructor and Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor and teaches children and adults to swim. She is currently studying Yang Style Tai Chi and Qi Gong at the Shenandoah Taijiquan Center and is studying for her Level Four Ranking. Jane is beginning study for a Medical Exercise Specialist Certification. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Physiological Psychology. |
